It Girl of the Month: Willa Holland (January Edition)

Who she is: Willa Holland was born in Los Angeles in June of 1991.  Her father, Keith Holland is a cinematographer and her mother is an actress.

What she does: Willa signed with Ford Models at the age of 7, and was the top child model in the US until she was 11.  She did campaigns for Guess and Burberry, and many more.  She played Marissa Cooper's younger sister Kaitlyn on the OC and wild child, model on Gossip Girl.  She recently played a part in the movie Legion.

Why we love her: She stole our hearts as the bratty, partying model in gossip girl, and we will fully admit that her style on that show has made us love her even more.  She has mostly played bad girl parts, and seems to be a bit of a rebel herself (she started hanging out with the cobrasnake at about 16).  She is said to be a bit of a free spirit, but also a hard worker.  We can't help but find her pretty fascinating.

On her style: First off, Willa is absolutely gorgeous (which obviously helps with her style), but she also stands out in the fashion world on her own.  Her style is part edgy grunge, part bohemian and a little bit of classic beauty.  We love the way that she throws together ripped up jeans, an oversized sweater and looks amazingly put together.  She seems to be (through pictures) pretty care-free in her style, keeping things simple and not being a slave to trends.  It does help that this girl would look good in anything she puts on.....

We love Willa.  We think her style is intriguing and her attitude and look, quite lovable.

Follow her on Twitter here.  See her thread on the fashion spot here.

Guilty Pleasure of the Day: Tommy Ton shoots Paris streetstyle at Couture shows

Tommy shows the best style from outside the Couture shows on style.com.  Loving all of the Isabel Marant and seeing Miroslava Duma out and about again (even if we aren't digging the fur).  Also, Tavi now has blueish gray hair? And doesn't she resemble Michelle Williams a bit in her pic?

Check it out here.  Happy hump day!

We forgot to mention....this little piece is updated daily.

Myths of Fashion Week: Fantastic Explanation from Fashionista

We frequently read Fashionista, mostly for the industry "news" it posts.  But we saw this piece a few days ago, and were pretty intrigued.  We follow the fashion weeks pretty closely, and these  statements are pretty amazing and true,  despite what our favorite fashion photog-bloggers may post.  Don't get us wrong, we basically live for the pictures posted by Garance and Tommy, but it is true, not every  person is dressed the way that the people in the photographs are.  However, we are glad some people dress up...or else we would be without those inspiring pictures.

Check out this article.  It's short, sweet and entertaining.

The Scarlet Room

Finding this site was our high point of this past Sunday.  We were browsing through fashion blogs (as Sundays are usually reserved for) and came across an amazing outfit on Cocorosa.  After briefly reading the post we were directed to The Scarlet Room, an amazing online store based out of Singapore.  The prices are unreal (think forever 21) but the styles are more sophisticated.  Shipping is $17 to the US, but absolutely worth it if you can get your hands on these pieces. Many things quickly sell out, but if you get on the backorder list, you are usually able to get the item.

This site has a small business feel, with a style savvy buying eye.  There is also a Supplies section for those of you who like DIY projects.

Check it out.  It's amazing.

Terry Richardson, we love

It's odd that we haven't written about this yet, since we have been checking this new site every day for the past week.  Terry Richardson finally has given us an insight into his crazy photography world by starting a tumblr.  We now get to see who he interacts with on a daily basis (today the olsens, see pics above) and also shows the ways his odd imagination plays with pictures.  Check out his tumblr TerrysDiary and follow him on twitter here

Alexa Chung to do line for Madewell

After the end of her show, Alexa is not having any problem staying busy.  WWD announced that Alexa will be doing a line for Madewell.  This line will consist of garments that she usually wears (think polka dots and skinny jeans) and will debut in August.  This is an interesting move for Madewell (owned by J.Crew) since the company usually stays away from celebrity collabs.  However, we think it is amazing.  Alexa is not just a celebrity, but a true style icon and we think that Madewell's customers will be lining up in droves to get their hands on these pieces.  We know we will....

The Row to show at NY fashion week next month

Since we spent most of our day yesterday flying back from NY and recovering from a nonstop weekend, we missed this little tidbit of news until today.  The Olsens's have announced that they will be showing The Row's AW10 line at NY fashion week.  Details are scarce, but we do know they will be doing some type of show or presentation.  No doubt it will be spectacular.

Sorry for the lack of updates over the past few days.  Spent a few days in New York, searching for dresses, inspiration and trying to live up every moment there.

The city, as always is unreal, and inspiration was found in the most unusual places.  Also, if you go there and haven't visited the High Line yet you must do so.  It is the most calm spot in the middle of the craziness that is the city.

Updates will resume tomorrow.....

The 3 piece suit

Tommy Ton posted this picture today on Jak and Jil.  Whatever happened to the 3 piece suit? We had basically forgotten about it's existence....until now.

Natalie Portman wears Rodarte for Target

People are going crazy over Natalie Portman wearing the canary yellow Rodarte for Target dress to an important event this weekend.  Fashionista ponders why a celeb would choose this over a hot off the runway item and fashion bloggers everywhere nearly had a heart attack over this.

We find this refreshing.  Maybe she just liked the dress?  Some of our favorite clothing items are some of the least expensive and we would never not wear them because we could choose something more luxurious.  There are some things you love regardless of who made them, what season they are etc.  But then again, we aren't a celebrity....

More importantly, what do you think?

Outside Inspiration: Artist Cedric Rivrain

We spent a good portion of this past weekend searching for inspiration in new places.  We realized that we have been looking in the same places for new ideas and motivation, thus causing a bit of an artistic rut.  We stumbled upon this artist and were quickly enthralled by his work.  His fashion sketches are stunning, his obsession with bandages is fascinating and his depiction of Sasha in Lanvin is captivating.  After a bit of research we found that he is a favorite of some of the most popular in the fashion set (ahem, John Galliano).  We also found his facebook fan page where he updates new sketches weekly.  This guy is incredibly talented, and luckily we found the inspiration we have been looking for within his work.

Check out his site here, facebook here and twitter here.

Check it out: The White Panda Mixed Tape

A friend passed this along to us and we can't help but share.  We have found the perfect pre going out playlist.  From two djs, DJ Griffi and Procrast, this "mixed tape" is a mashup of new hits and some old faves. It's a great getting ready mix...we listened to it all weekend.

Check it out here.

Want it, Need it, Have to have it: Mulberry's Alexa Bag

It hits stores Monday Jan 11th and comes in many colors. We want this one. Enough said.

Lady Gaga, Creative Director of Polaroid

The Lady Gaga craze continues! We, clearly are not surprised....we can't blame everyone for falling for this eccentric, talented lady.  Lady Gaga just announced, via her twitter that she will be the new Creative Director of Polaroid and inventor of specialty projects.  This greatly excites us, as we love both Gaga and Polaroid (see our main site, for our obsession with polaroids...)  We aren't sure yet what this new venture will entail, but we are sure that it will bring a new edge to polaroid and generate some exciting products.  Is this the beginning of artists crossing over to different types of businesses (beyond music and fashion)?  We think that this was a very interesting move for Polaroid, and probably a very good one.  We are anxious to see what will come of this.

Knighttcat's new blog: hard to explain

No really, it's called hard to explain.  One of our number one sources for inspiration, Knighttcat, just announced today, a new blog mostly dedicated to photography and music.  You better bet that we will be adding this blog to the ones that we look at daily for new ideas.  Cat from Knighttcat does one of the best jobs of picking the most inspiring, relatable and unique pictures for her readers.  Check this one out.  We promise it won't disappoint.

Alexa Chung for Pepe Jeans, like or dislike?

Without her show to keep her busy any longer, word is, Alexa may begin modeling more to fill her newfound free time.  She is the new face for Pepe Jeans and we just found the pictures today.  Thoughts? Is Alexa a good face for the brand? Was this a smart move for Alexa? We personally aren't completely digging her hair style.... We would love to hear your opinions.
