Fashionista Names Fashion's New It Girls
We are all obsessing over this article today. Fashionista names the ten newest girls on the fashion scene. Most of the girls have famous/fashionable relatives but they also have a certain style that sets them apart. A few of our faves on this list include: Lily Kwong (one of Harley Newton's bffs) Cara Delevingne (Poppy's little sister) and Nathalie and Laura Love (daughter of west coast Vogue editor Lisa Love)
We love articles like this because they help get the newest it girls on everyone's radar. And you know we love our it girls...
Check out the whole list here.

Things we love: Daniel Vosovic
Yes, we borrowed this from Fashionista. This makes us fall even more in love with Daniel.
1. He has cats
2. He mentions Emanuelle Alt
3. He wants to make himself proud of what he as accomplished.
Ahhh, can we meet him already?
Also, we can't get enough of Fashionista's pre fashion week madlibs. Check them out here.

Fashionista Gives Suggested Rules for Fashion Week
Last week we wrote about Fashionista's fashion week myths. This week Fashionista continued on this theme by writing a few rules that all fashion week goers should follow. It is a very nicely written way of telling those who just want to crash the party, to go away, or at least act respectful. Our favorite quotes from the article, “Hundreds of hours, and plenty of blood, sweat and tears go into producing a fashion show…so just remember that for most of us, Fashion Week is a business - not a party.” and another, "Just because we got wasted together at a fashion party doesn’t mean I have to invite you to shows."
Check it out here. It is pretty informative.

Myths of Fashion Week: Fantastic Explanation from Fashionista
We frequently read Fashionista, mostly for the industry "news" it posts. But we saw this piece a few days ago, and were pretty intrigued. We follow the fashion weeks pretty closely, and these statements are pretty amazing and true, despite what our favorite fashion photog-bloggers may post. Don't get us wrong, we basically live for the pictures posted by Garance and Tommy, but it is true, not every person is dressed the way that the people in the photographs are. However, we are glad some people dress up...or else we would be without those inspiring pictures.
Check out this article. It's short, sweet and entertaining.

Nintendo gets fashion friendly
We can't believe we didn't hear about the launch of this game sooner (since Nintendo did some crazy marketing at NY Fashion Week) and we also are wondering what it would have been like to have this as a little girl. Style Savvy is the new game for Nintendo DS, and for those who aren't Nintendo savvy, that is the handheld version. This game allows you to act as a boutique owner, manage inventory, and interact with customers. The customers have different personalities, so dealing with them is as realistic as possible. You are also able to choose from 16 different lines and over 10,000 options for inventory. We think this game sounds like fun, and probably teaches some retail basics in the meantime. We may just have to find one to play ourselves.
Thanks to Fashionista for opening our eyes to this one.

Would you rather? Backpacks vs. Fannypacks
Yesterday Abby from Fashionista denounced the comeback of the fanny pack and
Refinery 29 did a piece on backpacks as a fashion statement. Marc Jacobs debuted a few fanny packs in his Spring 2010 collection, and many designers have added stylish backpacks to their list of products for the fall and spring. Just check Opening Ceremony for a slew of stylish backpacks.
Anyways, the debate goes on as to which of these two accesories of the past are making the real comeback. We have spent a portion of the day reminiscing about our amazing Kate Spade mini backpack (our first "designer" purse purchase as a teen) and thinking about how handy fanny packs are for numerous different costume options (college cemented our love of fanny packs).
What are your thoughts? fanny packs or backpacks? or neither at all?

Vogue UK jumps on the blog wagon

We were very excited this morning to learn that British Vogue will now have a blog. We spend a good portion of our days here at TheStylist perusing numerous different fashion blogs for inspiration, ideas and just to keep up in the fashion world.
With this new blog coming out we got to thinking, on this lovely Wednesday morning, about what blogs we don't think we could live without. Okay, that's a bit dramatic, but we would be very, very sad without this list of blogs that keep us up to date, entertained and endlessly inspired.
Here's our list, enjoy:
1. Fashionista: Absolute best blog for day to day fashion news.
2. Modelinia: Okay we know it isn't a blog, but we visit this site at least once a day to stalk all of our favorite models (ahem Coco, Chanel, Erin...)
3. Sartorialist: We know this one is very popular, but we just cannot get enough of Scott Schuman's pictures. Whenever we are in a bit of a slump we always visit this one.
4. Inside Am-lul's closet: This is probably one of our favorites. This girl lives in London and embodies most of the style that we always aim to have.
5. Oh So Coco: Coco Rocha's blog. enough said.
Check these out and let us know your favorite fashion/art/style blogs!
