It Girl of the Month: Katherine Power (February Edition)
Katherine Power is a new love for us. Power solidified her place as an influential editor in our minds during this last New York Fashion Week. We had been interested in her before, but her outfit choices, new blazing red hair and awesome blog posts/tweets made us really pay attention.
Who she is: Power, 29, is one of the founders of Who What Wear, a site that is said to be "your immediate access to fashion as portrayed by the world's finest trendsetters." She grew up in Newport Beach and moved to LA at the age of 17, and is said to be a fearless business woman with an edgy style.
What she does: Currently Katherine is the Co-founder and Creative Director of Who What Wear Daily. Before she started WWW with Hillary Kerr, Power was the West Coast Editor of Elle and Ellegirl. Before that she was the Director of Promotions at Brent Bolthouse Productions. WWW was started when these two women saw a need for a more reliable, magazine-like fashion website. Rachel Zoe said about WWW, ""Even if you don't feel like you are one of the cool girls, they're helping you look like the cool girls." Erin Wasson said "They give younger designers like myself the opportunity to get my vision and my ideas out," and credits the site with helping her launch her design career. The girls of WWW already have one book under their belts and their second book is soon to be released. Power is also behind the design of the WWW site.
Why we like her: We like the edge that Katherine has. She comes across in everything we have read as a smart business woman with an enviable confidence. We are very impressed with her entrepreneurial side and the fact that she saw a need for something (an online fashion magazine) and acted quickly to fill that void in the market. She has done an amazing job of creating partnerships, sponsorships, etc. between WWW and other companies which has been helpful in pushing WWW into the spotlight and insuring the site's validity.
On her style: Power has said she is inspired by the fashion trends of the original 90210, and classic 90s styles. She names Carine Roitfeld, Diane Kruger and Alexa Chung as style influences. We have mostly seen her in structured jackets, dark sunglasses and perfect fitting pants. However, she will throw on an outfit and surprise us with a billowy skirt and a large fur vest that takes her style in an entirely different direction. We like the spin that she puts on classic pieces. We are quite excited to see more outfit pics, blog posts and business developments from Katherine.

Does JCrew Do Everything Right?
Obsessed with this shoot, the wording, the outfit combos and the backdrop (LA/Hollywood). LOVE the part on the paramount lot (where one of our faves works) and at the Chateau Marmont. And most importantly, beyond obsessed with the outfits.

3.1 Phillip Lim AW 11
In love with this collection. The best part about Lim is that he changes it up from season to season, really trying to outdo himself and always garners some response from the critics. Obsessed with the bright colors, and yes, the fabric looks a bit uncomfortable at times, but overall we love the pieces. We really want to wear alot of them.
Have always loved Lim, and pretty sure we always will.

Lauren Conrad's New Line: Paper Crown
This lookbook landed in our in box this morning and we have to say, we are pleasantly surprised. The collection is a bit young and simple for our liking, but we actually think Lauren did a really good job. This is quite a step up from her past two lines and we are hoping, for her sake, that this one does well. The collection has a bit of the old school Elizabeth & James feel. We are into the neutral colors, sheer fabrics and basic cuts. Now we just have to wait to see the price points (that's where her first line bombed, price point too high for product quality)
She will be showing the line at Coterie in NY this week. We are excited to see how she does and we are wishing her good luck!
Also, are we the only ones that really, really wanted to see her new show??
